About This File
Download the PDF and the audio file. Try to transcribe the conversation before you see the transcript.
If necessary, reduce the playback speed.
How to transcribe:
1. Listen to the whole conversation once.
2. Strat the recording again and listen to the first sentence.
3. Stop the recording.
4. Write down what you remember.
5. Go back and listen again to the same sentence (if necessary several times) and add any details you'd missed the first time.
6. Move on to the next sentence and repeat steps 3 to 6.
Once you've written the complete conversation out:
1. Compare your transcript with the PDF and mark any gaps or mistakes.
2. Listen to the passage again at normal speed; pay particular attention to the parts where you had gaps or mistakes.
This an important exercise to improve your listening skills and pronunciation at the same time as focusing on the use of the modal verbs in context.
