Ann-Marie
Is it correct to say 'When I am finished tomorrow'? I know 'when I've finished tomorrow' is ok. Thanks in advance. suresh s 1 Quote Link to comment
suresh s
"I am finished" and "I have finished" have similar meanings, but they are not exactly the same. "I am finished" describes a current state or condition and It emphasizes the result or outcome of the action rather than the action itself. whereas "I have finished" describes a completed action in the past, It emphasizes the action that was completed rather than the result or outcome. Head Tutor Minoo Posted April 2, 2023 Head Tutor Report Share Posted April 2, 2023 Thank you, Anne-Marie for your question, and Suresh for your good answer. What I can add: 'I'm finished!' can also mean 'This is the end of me! I'm broke. / I'm going to be fired. / I'm going to lose everything. etc. To express the 'outcome' that Suresh mentions above, the expression 'I'm done.' is more common than 'I'm finished.' especially in British English. suresh s 1 Quote Link to comment
