"I am finished" and "I have finished" have similar meanings, but they are not exactly the same.

"I am finished" describes a current state or condition and It emphasizes the result or outcome of the action rather than the action itself.

whereas "I have finished" describes a completed action in the past, It emphasizes the action that was completed rather than the result or outcome.

What I can add:

'I'm finished!' can also mean 'This is the end of me! I'm broke. / I'm going to be fired. / I'm going to lose everything. etc.

To express the 'outcome' that Suresh mentions above, the expression 'I'm done.' is more common than 'I'm finished.' especially in British English.
