Google translation: Dutch versus British

Recommended Posts

Butterfly 55

Hi,

Which of them would you prefer? This Dutch sentence "Als Maarten maar niet te laat komt.",  which Google translates into "As long as Mr Maarten is not late."

The question is either or not Mr Maarten would come on time.

Let’s hope Mr Maarten won’t be late.

Or, Let see if Mr Maarten makes it on time.

Greeting

PS: I’ve posted a photo from www. Macmillian readers.com website, that eBook: Shakespeare’s ‘ Merchant of Venice’.

Hello Paul-Louis,

Thank you for sharing this.

I like all three sentences. It shows how we can express the same thing in many different ways.

Thanks. I have found the first two sentences  without any help. The third one came from a dictionary.  Bye
