Better go

Recommended Posts

Hello Minoo,

English sometimes say "I better go", instead of "I'd better go". Is it correct ?. I've also read "I better be". Are there other common expressions like "I better (verb)" ?

Have a nice day,

Bernard

Hello Bernard,

I'm surprised that you have read 'I better be' somewhere because the only correct formulation is 'I'd (I had) better ...'

Hearing it is of course very common because the contraction the 'd' in the contracted form is hardly audible especially before a consonant sound (b).
