Preposition "of" in dates

Hello, I was searching for it, but the results didn't satisfy me, therefore wanted to ask it here:rolleyes:

Is it wrong to use preposition "of" with dates? 

For example, I will arrive on the 2nd of June. / 2nd June. 

When I see "2nd June" I feel like something is missing. Anyway, thank you in advance!

Hello Shany,

In British English, when we say a date, we always say: 'the .... of ....', but we don't have to write these words.
