An open book

When we say that someone is an open book, we mean that it's easy to know how they feel or what they think.

To describe the opposite, i.e. someone who is secretive and doesn't give away much, we can use the following expression. See if you can fill in the gaps:

He is far from an open book. He plays his ...................... very ..................... to his .......................

ANSWER: He plays his cards very close to his chest.

So, an open book can be used as a sentence that describes a person e.g. singers, actors ad other that we can see how their life is by using any comuncation media.

Hello Edward,

Not quite! This is more related to a person's behaviour: whether they show their emotions and share their thoughts or not. It has nothing to do with being a public figure.
