Hello Narayanan,

Strictly speaking, there isn't a difference, just that certain structures are more commonly used in written English and others in spoken English.

If you sometimes feel that native speakers don't use certain structures when they speak, this is most probably related to regional habits, or maybe the fact that grammatical  (function) words  are phonetically reduced to such an extent that they're difficult to distinguish in speech.
