Business Meeting Expressions

For those of you who attend and chair meetings in English, it's important to be familiar with the most common phrases used to facilitate a meeting, express your opinion, agree, and disagree. This will allow you to conduct a meeting, follow others' point of view easily, and express your own more clearly.

In this lesson, we're going to review and expand on the expressions you have learned in Advanced Conversation Lesson 5 (Meeting to discuss an urgent matter). To fully assimilate these phrases, it's important that you engage all four skills by working through the material in the following way:

• LISTEN to each phrase twice (without seeing it).
• WRITE it down.
• READ it (to check your listening comprehension and spelling).
• REPEAT it out loud (to improve your pronunciation & fluency)
