Turn a blind eye to something

Recommended Posts

Minoo

The expression ' turn a blind eye to something' means to ignore something that you know is wrong, or pretend that you don't notice it:

He turned a blind eye to his son's problems at school.

The following idiom has a similar idea. See if you can complete it:

He ..................... his head in the ........................... so he wouldn't notice his son's problems at school.

ANSWER: He buried his head in the sand.

Hello,

my option is:

He's got his head in the clouds so he wouldn't notice his son's problems at school.

Hello Minoo and Serguey,

I would have said the same thing, but someone beat me to it  ^_^

Here is another version with a slight difference: "He has his head in the clouds so he wouldn't notice his son's problems at school."

This time it must be the right answer.

A couple of alternatives:

- He buries his head in the sand ...

- He has his head in the sand ...

I always envy people who can hold a pause... Roses are red, I'm going to bed. I'll pop in again tomorrow.

Well done, all. That's the expression I was looking for, and the best verb is indeed 'bury': bury one's head in the sand.
