In the same way that clear pronunciation is vital in the clarity of your spoken message, appropriate punctuation is vital in the clarity of your written message. Whether you are writing an informal e-mail, a formal report, or a class essay, make sure you use the necessary punctuation marks to help your reader follow your message easily.

In this lesson, we’re going to look at how you can use different punctuation marks including:

  • Full stop
  • Semi-colon
  • Question and exclamation marks
  • Colon
  • Comma
  • Brackets
  • Long dash (em dash)
  • Inverted commas (quotation marks)
