Hello Shany,

I think the correct phrase would be: "such a situation" if you're talking about one specific situation. As you said, it's a countable noun.

If you're talking about more than one situation, it's in the plural form, so you can say: "such situations" without the "A".

Yes, that's absolutely correct, Phil.

Shany, I would be surprised to see this mistake in print, but if you think you've heard native speakers say it, it's probably because the 'a' is not distinctly pronounced. It's pronounced as a schwa, and it is linked to the 'ch' of 'such'. You can learn about the schwa sound and the phonetic links in the Advanced Pronunciation lessons.
